Working out while at work

HI,

I recently started a sedantary job - I have been at the job for a few months now. Although I enjoy my job, sitting at my desk all day had begun to adversely imapct my health. In just a few months, I had packed substantial pounds. I was alarmed to see how a few months of a lifestyle change impacted me so much!! With a couple of kids and all the things that go w/rasining 'em, did not have much time for after- work work outs. So I decided to get innovative and start working out right in my cubicle. Started off w/some lunges at my cubicle, then steadily added hand and ankle weights. Lo and behold, I noticed changes in the frst few weeks.

Looking for responses from peopel facing similar challenges - I would like for this blogpost to serve as a means to stay connected w/like minded folks while providing motivation and encouragement to stay fit

  1. I have also started a program of working out at work. I also belong to a gym where I mostly focus on plowing through my cardio workouts and due to time constraints, my strength and resistance training gets left by the wayside. Using a resistance band, I have been incorporating strenth training exercises into my fitness routine -- at work! I have the type of job working in a call center and sometimes there is a lag between calls. So I grab my gear and keep the headset on in case there's a call. It's amazing how good of a workout I get when I target my effort and energy into the span of 5-15 minutes, sometimes more. Done every other workday, that adds up to another 1 hour workout in my routine for the week!
